The Taste of Buffalo, Inc. in its continuing commitment to Western New York, is proud to sponsor once again, a scholarship program for college-bound students in the eight counties of Western New York who will pursue a degree in Foodservice or Hospitality industries. Up to five $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded and will be based on the criteria and terms described on the last page of this scholarship application.

Check back in early 2019 to apply for next year's scholarship.

 

Smithfield Foods Deli Brand Scholarship presented by Margherita® and Healthy Ones®

Thank you for your interest in the Smithfield Foods Deli Brand Scholarship presented by Margherita® and Healthy Ones®. The deadline for turning in Scholarships applications has now passed.

Margherita® and Healthy Ones®, have partnered to support future industry leaders. This $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound student in Western New York who is pursuing a degree in Foodservice, Culinary Arts, or Hospitality.

 

Taste of Buffalo's Culinary Advancement Scholarship for Women

Thank you for your interest in the Taste of Buffalo's Culinary Advancement Scholarship for Women. The deadline for turning in the Scholarship application has now passed.

To promote the advancement of women in Culinary Arts this one-time $1000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a female graduating from high school in June 2018. The student must be pursuing a degree in Culinary Arts.

2018 Taste of Buffalo SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Keon Allen

I will be graduating from Burgard Vocational School in Buffalo this June and will attend Erie Community College in the fall where I will major in Culinary Arts. Cooking is a passion of mine and I hope to earn my culinary and business degree, and then begin working at local restaurants until I build up the knowledge and experience to open my own business.

 

Andrew Conti

I will graduate in June from Fredonia High School and continue my education at Niagara County Community College in the Hospitality Management Program.  I have completed two years in the Culinary Arts program at BOCES LoGuidice Center in Fredonia. I was selected both years to represent the school at the Skills USA competition. I have been very active in Varsity soccer, bowling and golf throughout high school.

 

Morgan Gardner

I will be graduating from Lancaster High School in June 2018.  I have been a lifelong resident of Lancaster.  While attending Lancaster High School I was a member of the Girls Varsity swim team, the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, and also a member of the music department performing in the Jazz Ensemble and the Symphonic Band. I am very excited to be attending Ashland University in the fall to pursue a degree in Hospitality Management.

 

Megan Kelley

I am currently a senior at Williamsville South High School where I will graduate in June 2018.  I have attended Harkness Vocational and Technical Center for the past two years majoring in Baking and Pastry Arts. I plan to attend Niagara County Community College in the fall majoring in Baking and Pastry Arts with hopes to attend the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, NY after completing my two year degree.

 


Nico Zambito

I am a senior at Notre Dame HS in Batavia, NY where I rank second in my class.  I have played 4 years of football where I was team captain and received the 2017 National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award.  I played 3 years of Varsity basketball serving as team captain for 2 years. I won numerous awards for basketball, including GR League All Star. I volunteer for the Michael Napoleone Memorial Foundation, Mercy Spirituality Center and St. Joseph School. I will attend Niagara University in the fall to pursue a degree in Hotel/Luxury Hospitality Operations.  In the future I hope to start a local charity that offers free dinner to people in need.

Phillip Weeks

I am currently a senior at Emerson School of Hospitality, a vocational high school for Culinary Arts. I have also worked at Wegmans Food Markets for the past fourteen months. I currently work in the sub shop and will start in sushi as a full time employee for the summer. I will be attending Niagara Falls Culinary Institute to earn an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts then transfer to Buffalo State College to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. My goal is to become a professional chef and work as a store chef for a local food market.

Victoria Schaffer

I will be graduating from Williamsville North High School in June and attending Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island where I will major in Culinary Arts.  While in high school I have been active in Drama Club, National Honor Society Gay Straight Alliance club and Girl Scouts.  I hope to work in the culinary industry as a pantry chef, gain experience and then open up a restaurant.
