Dec. 4, 2017, BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Taste of Buffalo presented by TOPS announced today that the organization donated $2,500 to the Food Bank of WNY through the Food 2 Families Food and Fund Drive sponsored in part by Tops Friendly Markets. This donation was made possible thanks to the purchases of festival-goers at the event last July.

"Last year, Food 2 Families helped the Food Bank of WNY provide more than 1.1 million meals to local families in need. This initiative provides assistance to those who need it most during the holidays,” said 2017 Taste of Buffalo Chair Ralph Basile. “As a not-for-profit organization, the Taste has a long tradition of donating to organizations like the Food Bank that provide such critical services to our community. We are able to do this because of the millions of people who support our event each year. From the restaurants who participate, our dedicated volunteers who contribute their invaluable time and energy toward our success, and Taste patrons who show so much love for Buffalo’s favorite summertime festival – we are grateful for all of you. Thank you for helping us give back to Western New York.”

In addition to charitable donations made by the outgoing chair each year after all expenses are paid, the Taste partners with select non-profits to staff ticket and beverage tents with volunteers in return for a donation. The festival also offers five annual $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors pursuing a culinary or hospitality-related degree. More than $390,000 has been donated back to the community to date.

The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is the nation's largest two-day food festival, attracting more than 450,000 visitors each year. The 35th annual Taste will take place on July 7 and 8, 2018 along Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo. The Taste is a not-for-profit organization with more than 1,000 volunteers helping to put on the annual event. Approximately $390,000 has been raised at the festival for local charities in addition to five $1,000 scholarships awarded annually to local high school seniors pursuing a culinary or hospitality-related degree.
