Taste of Buffalo presented by TOPS Now Accepting Scholarship Applications
Dollars available for students enrolling in foodservice/hospitality curriculum
BUFFALO, NY - The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program. This program supports local area high school seniors in pursuit of higher education in the food service and hospitality industries and awards up to five scholarship winners with $1,000 each to be applied toward their college education.
To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be residents of Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming, Genesee, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus or Allegany counties. They must also be enrolled, or intend to enroll in a foodservice or hospitality curriculum at an accredited two- or four-year school for the fall 2015 semester. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of academic achievement, experience, recommendations, community involvement, goal objectives and overall interest in the industry. Since the scholarship program began in 1997, more than $66,000 has been awarded to help western New York foodservice and hospitality students.

The completed application, a current transcript and report card, and letters of recommendation must be received by Friday, March 27, 2015.The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is the nation's largest two-day food festival, attracting more than 450,000 people to downtown Buffalo. The 32nd annual Taste is July 11 and 12, 2015, along Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo. The Taste is a not-for-profit organization with more than 1,000 volunteers helping to put on the annual event. Nearly $280,000 has been raised at the festival for local charities in addition, to awarding five $1,000 scholarships annually to local high school seniors pursuing a culinary or hospitality-related degree.
