Taste of Buffalo presented by TOPS Announces 2013 Chairman Donations
BUFFALO, NY - The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops today announced its 2013 chairman contributions. After all event expenses are paid, the Taste chairman designates any remaining money be donated to the charity or charities of his/her choice. Joe Lane, 2013 Taste chairman, presented a $15,000 donation to the Greater Niagara Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts, which will help support City of Buffalo scouting programs and camperships, the purchase of kitchen equipment at Camp Schoellkopf and the local endowment fund for scouting. In addition, a $1,000 donation was also made to the Food Bank of Western New York.
The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops is the nation's largest two-day food festival, attracting more than 400,000 people to downtown Buffalo. The 31st annual Taste is July 12 and 13, 2014, along Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo. The Taste is a not-for-profit organization with more than 1,000 volunteers helping to put on the annual event. More than $250,000 has been raised at the festival for local charities in addition, to awarding five $1,000 scholarships annually to local high school seniors pursuing a culinary or hospitality-related degree.
